Landmouth (/landmouth/ [Translation Unavailable]) is a subtropical Town located in Nujogevi Dutchy, Kobian Kingdom, within the Sylvanian Empire.

The name Landmouth is derived from the Sylvin language, as Landmouth was founded by Gō̌sh Sé̄kīb 'Harley Ophelia' Cónḱ Jōboī Yä̌shv Yāy Mbó̄ Granville, who was culturaly Sylvin.

Climate

Landmouth has a yearly average temperature of 15°C (59°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 27°C (80°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cold 3°C (37°F). Landmouth receives an average of 253 cm/y (99 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Landmouth covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 2876 m (9435 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Landmouth was founded durring the early 15th century in summer of the year 1427, by Gō̌sh Sé̄kīb 'Harley Ophelia' Cónḱ Jōboī Yä̌shv Yāy Mbó̄ Granville. The establishment of the new community went well, with no major obsticles durring construction.

Landmouth was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the early 15th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Landmouth is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Landmouth is buildings are grouped arround an odd layout of crampt cobblestone streets, which seems to be based on an overlapping squair patern such that there are small squares at the cornor of every bigger square. Sometimes buildings exist in the smaller squaires, other times they are open spaces, or occupied by temporary structures. The town sits comfortably behind a palisade wall complete with a timber gatehouse and battlments. Landmouth's timber-based walls has sufferd soem light damage, reducing its function a little in some spots, but could almsot certainly preform as expected... Though some of the worse spots could lead to the loss of defenders lives if attackers identified the weaknesses ahead of time.

The town shows nothing out of the ordinary, at first glance. Then you start to notice all the small things. Each window has seven iron nails pounded into the sill. Every door has a sprig of holly overhead. Every well is branded with purity seals and runes to ward the contents. Everyone is carrying a small charm for safety or fortune, be it a rabbit’s foot, a horseshoe, or other little totems.

Civic Infrastructure

Landmouth has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Landmouth. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Landmouth's parks.

Landmouth has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Landmouth.

Landmouth has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Landmouth has a Department of Firefighters, which is responsible for organizing fire fighting efforts during a fire and enforcing local ordinances relating to fire safety.

Landmouth has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Landmouth has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Landmouth's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Landmouth possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Town. Landmouth's grid is powered by a boiler and turbine based power plant.

Landmouth has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Landmouth's natural decorations nor waterways.

Landmouth has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

Landmouth's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is known primarily for its use of abstraction and simplicity. Clean lines, right angles, and primary colors characterized this aesthetic and art movement expressed via architecture and paintings. Its design ethos allows only primary colors and non-colors, only squares and rectangles, only straight and horizontal or vertical lines. Vertical and horizontal lines are positioned in layers or planes that do not intersect, thereby allowing each element to exist independently and unobstructed by other elements. These seemingly impossible principals for an architectural style coalesces into structures which most experts find hard to put into words. It is not that their geometry is impossible, but rather the style's attempt at producing works only describable visually was most successful..

In Landmouth all of the cats speak the local language with prefect diction.

The Ice Elemental, Large near Landmouth are known to be a mutant strain of the creature.

Landmouth's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in spring and involves reenactments to channel Conjuration energies of tier 1 via proclamations.

Economy

It differs from Standard Imperial censuses in that many of Tom's citizens, regardless of culture, work in more than one occupation or hold more than a single job. History

A local has came up with a wonderful new idea (23992 % 6)+1 months ago; it may be a magical innovation, a new industrial process, a new agricultural product, a new use for what was thought to be ancient garbage, or some other very useful, profitable idea. Everyone around them is fighting for the chance to exploit this clever new plan.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century, Landmouth was attacked by a slaver gang capable of fielding large forces. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Landmouth lost 160 people, 270 livestock, and 54 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 114, when members of Landmouth's militia enacted an operation to locate a particular solgiers group. The operation was complicated by the officers in charge fight among themselves, weakening the army as a whole. The conflict ended with an assault and siege on the bridge, which ended in defeat for Landmouth's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Landmouth's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
